Retreat Staff usually work under the supervision of Program Leadership or a Director and are typically responsible program implementation, and hosting groups. Some may be part of Internship Programs with intentional study and training for working in outdoor ministry as a career


Program Management Intern -- Ewalu Camp and Retreat Center

General Responsibilities: This position offers a variety of professional experiences in leading all aspects of top quality Christian outdoor/retreat ministry programs. The Management Intern assists in coordinating adult and youth programs designed to respond to the needs of ELCA congregations and of the whole Church. The Intern also serves as primary host for custom retreats, assists in hiring and supervising seasonal youth ministry staff, helps with public relations and marketing, and supports fellow church leaders.

Qualifications: Commitment to Jesus Christ. Eagerness to share the Gospel from a sound Biblical understanding, consistent with the teachings of the ELCA and fellow mainline churches. Excellent written communication skills. Strong work ethic, pragmatism, and ability to work flexible hours. Felt sense of vocation to a long-term leadership role in Outdoor Ministries. Must have a valid driver’s license. Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. Housing, stipend, occasional meals, and 500+ acre backyard are provided.
